I am happy to report that it is Summer in New Jersey, my favorite time of year in my favorite place. Truly there is no better time to visit our wonderful state. Get ideas here:

Here is my list of 53 Reasons Why I Love Summer In New Jersey (in no particular order.) Enjoy.
- crickets, cicadas, and fireflies
- ice cream dripping on a picnic table
- the morning coolness
- the evening light
- purple sunsets at cape may point
- friday night fireworks at point pleasant beach
- skipping work to cruise to the shore
- night swimming in a moonlit backyard pool followed by
- cold beers and Scrabble around the picnic table
- July 4th soap box derby in Washington, NJ
- sleeveless flowing summer dresses
- sandals and outrageous toenail polish
- sudden thunderstorms down the shore, watching lightning from the beach, streaks of white in a green gray sky above a tormented blue black ocean
- raspberries, strawberries, blueberries, cranberries, watermelon
- arts and crafts fairs
- classic car shows in johnson park, new brunswick
- sandy hook via ferry, bikes in tow
- point pleasant boardwalk
- trespassing in spring lake to photograph the houses
- everything about island beach state park
- bike rides in liberty state park after work -- because it's still light out
- all the shore towns you can reach by train: belmar, spring lake, bradley beach, asbury park, point pleasant, manasquan, bay head
- the tiny, tiny little cottages of lavallette
- always feeling warm, the fan's constant hum
- the long summer nights when the sun takes forever to set
- drinks outside the Hard Grove Cafe
- cruising LBI's main drag, especially in a convertible
- everything about Beach Haven
- breakfast at the Mad Batter, Cape May, NJ
- impromptu roof parties
- my NYC friends finally agreeing to visit -- "if we go down the shore!"
- seasonal hair blonding
- that first summer visit to the shore, preferably with nieces and nephews in tow, to hear them scream with glee at the ocean
- that first salt taste of the ocean
- seeig dolphins playing in the waves off Cape May
- peaches; soft, warm, and fuzzy
- Rt. 36 going north at 9 pm on a Sunday night (just kidding)
- tour of Somerville Bike Race
- outdoors concerts NJ Symphony Orchestra
- buying Jersey corn from roadside vendors
- the Summer rain hot pavement smell
- being outside as much as possible
- walking tours of Jersey City with my history friends
- staying up late just because it's so warm and light outside
- walks to nowhere
- watching the tide come in
- watching the sunrise at the shore over the ocean
- Italian ices, good humor man
- park swings
- day trips
- biking on the Delaware Raritan Canal towpath
- traipsing to Flemington, Lambertville, or Frenchtown
- blasting Springsteen on the stereo
